Vertaccount Sponsors Filipino Film Festival
The Honolulu Museum of Art screened 6 films by Filipino filmmakers at the recently concluded Filipino Film Festival held from April 18-28, 2015.
The movies screened were Namets! (Yummy), 1st Ko si Third (Third is my 1st), Mariquina, K’Na the Dreamweaver, Manny and That Thing Called Tadhana. All were indie films by budding Filipino Directors.
Vertaccount sponsored Namets!, the film for the opening night. It’s a romantic comedy film featuring the local scenery and cuisine of Negros Occidental, a province in the Philippines’ Visayas Region. The opening dinner featured a showcase of Yana Gilbuena’s mouthwatering Filipino dishes. Yana is a New York-based chef who tours the US setting up Filipino pop-up dinners as part of her Salo Project.
It was a great night as Vertaccount got to participate in showcasing the unique Filipino culture through cuisine and film.
